I just bought a home stead in south Alabama we might get some frost but no snow. I already planted carrots, collards, and Brussel sprouts. My soiled is very sandy so I added garden soil to it and rabbit poop because I also raise rabbits.

Well I know for sure cauliflower is not frost resistant because I was growing one in Louisiana and we had a very bad super frost and my cauliflower did not make it….It was a bummer, it had grown so big and pretty

I never see any videos on growing broccoli rabe. I always have a hard time with it and we love it. I’m never sure of the time of year to grow it. What do you know about that plant?

  19. Trend Investor on November 1, 2021 at 9:18 am

Your definition of winter is not the same as our definition here in Upstate New York. These are all very good plants to grow in early spring in New York state.

I forgot to add the hardiness temp for Peas which is 28F and Garlic which is 10F. Also, some subscribers pointed out that Brussel Sprouts and Bok Choy is also frost hardy, so the list has grown to 12! Enjoy!

I had red russian kale and mustard greens all winter long last year. If it was going to get very cold I just covered it with a bin or a tarp overnight for insulation and took it off midday. I loved the fresh greens every day.
