12 Vertical Gardening Ideas using Flowering Vines and Climbers

Join Rosanne as she takes you around her garden and shows you how you can “elevate” your garden design using flowering vines and climbers. Plus, learn how she pairs vines with decorative arbors, trellises, and tuteurs, taking into account the needs of the climbing plant as well as the aesthetics of the garden. You will be introduced to all of her favorite climbing annuals and perennials.
Don’t miss this great introduction to vertical flower gardening!

Puff vine…. U can use it for medicinal purposes… Making soup with leaves, is best remedy for gastric problems…. When pregnant ladies get labour pain, must apply the paste of whole puff vine with roots in bottom of belly…. Its reduces the labour pain…

I had beautiful wisteria, but had to cut it down, because it was strangling my trees. It has to be watched-shoots out long vines that can strangle trees and other plants.

Wow it’s awesome I’d love some of these plants to grow here in Barbados. Can you suggest a link where I can get seeds for these lovely vines or even others you wish to put on you "must-plant list"?

Wisteria seeds are toxic, so if you have pets or small children beware. In addition, unless you enjoy having to trim back the trailing toenails on a daily basis and huge amount of blossom drop, look for another type of vine. I hate our wisteria with a passion but my husband loves them (he doesn’t due the up keep). The heavy trunks and vines require very sturdy supports or they will become too heavy and destroy them.

I SO appreciate your insight that with beautiful trellises you are installing garden art as you wait for vines to climb them! I’ve never thought about it that way and from now on I will use trellises with that important point in mind!

The roses climbing and covering a wall of the house or more, a dream…You could make a video about trimming some of these climbing plants, which season, and how much you cut
