no disrespect – and I love that you’re out there hunting. But realistically, a bag dump recommendation from someone who has been Elk hunting the Western States for 1 year? 2 years? doesn’t have the depth of knowledge to be making videos.

  3. Charles Fletcher on June 13, 2021 at 7:18 pm

Have you checked out the Bow Spider? Pretty bad ass.

  4. Mj on June 13, 2021 at 7:18 pm

Allie I guess your not going to answer my question

  5. Kayla Sharick on June 13, 2021 at 7:19 pm

You always help with JUST want I need! Haha needed a pack for all around- hunting, recreational backpacking and this one seems to check all the boxes. Great video!

  8. Maik P on June 13, 2021 at 7:26 pm

Ear plugs… ? What if a bear is lurking around or some people up to no good?

  9. Mike on June 13, 2021 at 7:27 pm

Water = 2.2lbs per L. My mindset is if a bladder helps you drink more water, bring it. You can reduce the weight of the bladder by switching to an open top bladder like the platypus big evo. Plus they are easier to clean and dry out. I ditched Nalgene bottles a long time ago for Aquafina/Smartwater bottles. They weigh a fraction of Nalgenes and are pretty sturdy, alot of thru hikers use them.
Do you bring a backup power source?
No Imodium? You’re playing with fire!
If you have the weight capacity, a sleeping bag liner is great to keep your bag clean, adds warmth, and helps some people sleep who don’t like nylon.

Great breakdown, I always love seeing what people pack.

Hey Allie trying to see what packs might fit my wife. She has a short torso and is 5’2". About 120lb. We already tried kuiu and we found even the small frame still the shoulder straps would hover above her shoulders..shoulder straps wouldnt adjust lower as I believe the frame was made for min height of 5’5" or so. How tall are you..have you tried stone glacier or exo mountain gear pack? Any info would be appreciated thank you.
    David

Great bag dump video! What bino harness are you using?

  14. Robin Webb on June 13, 2021 at 7:37 pm

What is your torso length? What size did you get, in the men’s or Women’s Metcalf? I have read reviews from women saying they prefer the men’s as the thinner straps on the women’s digs in. I like my husband’s, but measure at 14". The men’s small starts at 15".

  15. Luis Rodriguez on June 13, 2021 at 7:37 pm

That hunting backpack looks really good. Carrying all that seems like a workout.

Nice review! 1st elk bow trip in Sept 2021 with buddy and my son. Diy backpacking!

  20. Michigan Magneto on June 13, 2021 at 7:40 pm

I’d like to make a little suggestion that doesn’t add any weight: a couple of fresh chemlights. In the event your electric lights fail, it’s good to have backup.

  21. Pamela Pelech on June 13, 2021 at 7:41 pm

Looks like you have everything in there

  22. natalio gomez on June 13, 2021 at 7:44 pm

cant beat a pump style water water filter. Used it backpacking thru the U.S. Definitely pretty simple and not too bulky to carry.

  23. Joseph Papale on June 13, 2021 at 7:44 pm

What did you do, wear all that equipment for the video then you passed on to your boyfriend. Lol

  24. Windell Peacock on June 13, 2021 at 7:46 pm

Good day ALLIE. Mystery Ranch in multicam the best.

  30. Yankee on June 13, 2021 at 7:58 pm

I’m up to 3 Mystery Ranch packs now. Simply the best for the money. I love ’em. I even EDC their attache case for my business work. Tip on walking downhill with trekking poles: Make one shorter and keep the other one longer. Use the short one to keep yourself anchored behind you and the long one as a feeler. Your arms & shoulders will be level as you descend because the shorter one will be meeting the pitch of the mountain. Far more stable. You’d be surprised at how much faster you go down.

  31. pahuntnut on June 13, 2021 at 7:59 pm

Floor less tent not for me even in dry country. Mice love to chew on anything including mountain house meals. Big Agnes, Nemo etc all have lightweight tents with a floor.

    Hey there,
Awsome gear dump, very informative thanks. LOVE THAT PACK !
Would be real interested to read a list of your Lightweight Med supplies…we live in NZ so unfamiliar with some of the brand names, if you could please put up a list, maybe we can search for NZ equivalents?
