i had to watch for homework
I stumbled upon this while looking for a cartoon to watch with my son. I think a lot of comments here miss a lot. For example let’s review the part where we are shown Heron returning to her chicks without a worm. Most people seem to immediately assume that these chicks are starving. But think about it: what do herons eat when there are no fishermen with cans of worms around? They normally don’t eat worms, they eat small fishes and they have plenty of small fishes! But the chicks refuse to eat the fish, I guess they have already tasted worms and worms taste better. So the chicks refuse their normal food and demand something tastier. That’s like a kid who refuses to eat his cereal for breakfast and demands that his parents give him chocolate instead. Good parents won’t allow that and we all know that only spoiled kids behave like that. But Heron caves in to the demands of her chicks and actually tries to commit the crime of stealing to be able to give her chicks that chocolate, I mean, worm, which they demand. Is that good parenting? Is she a good role model? Instead of stealing she could have at least offered to trade the fishes she has for the worms, but I guess she’s not smart enough for that either. So if you think that Dog did a good deed by offering Heron the worms, think again. He actually rewarded her for being a bad parent and a criminal.
