Does anyone know, do you have to turn the compost and how often do you change it out and restart your build?

  4. justinwashere on November 10, 2021 at 9:34 am

Great video, Kaitlyn. This may be a dumb question but, if you keep adding the scraps, how do you get the soil back out of the bin? Won’t you always have a layer of fresh greens preventing you from getting at the soil?

  5. Chronically Beautif-ILL on November 10, 2021 at 9:34 am

You are too cute! Thanks for the great info! I’m going to start my bin this weekend. You’ve inspired me to make a video about it for my little channel too! Thank you!

  6. SuburbanDon on November 10, 2021 at 9:34 am

Very good. So then what do we do next ? Do we turn it ? Can we add more food scraps ? How long does it take until we can use it ?

  7. Jose Aleman on November 10, 2021 at 9:34 am

This look like half way compost and other half way worm compost, but regular compost needs to be activated and it will smell like ammonia or something else depending how is done , better to do it outside.
worm compost "can be a lot more cleaner" and be keep inside . I do both but I will never compost inside my house or close to my house.

  15. Industrial adhesive on November 10, 2021 at 9:45 am

You should do a video on worn castings. They work a bit better on gardens than compost does. Dont get me wrong compost is great. Also great video

  16. DansLikeaRockstar on November 10, 2021 at 9:46 am

I came for the compost bin and stayed for the random shirtless guy

  17. Dar Sam on November 10, 2021 at 9:49 am

I think the point of having a compost bin in the kitchen is to give food scraps an aeration. But you sealed it in a plastic bag to ?

  18. Lauren Walters on November 10, 2021 at 9:49 am

can you add shredded white paper for the 2nd layer?

  19. Hena Parker on November 10, 2021 at 9:50 am

how long does it usually take before you can use the soil?

  20. MissNannyLake on November 10, 2021 at 9:51 am

I have maybe a silly question, but I’m brand new to this and don’t know what I’m doing. When you fill your counter compost bin, do you take it and put it into the large bin outside? Or do you need to save everything for a brand new bin? (Not even sure if that makes sense lol). Thank you for the awesome and helpful video!

  21. Lidia Mercedes Vidal Sandate on November 10, 2021 at 9:53 am

How long should I keep the compost in the box?

  22. Clever Kids on November 10, 2021 at 9:53 am

How long do you leave it in the bin until it’s ready to use?

  23. joeytalks on November 10, 2021 at 9:55 am

  24. darikson Carranza on November 10, 2021 at 9:56 am

Getting my little house soon and planning on doing lots of gardening can’t wait to try this out thank you!!!

  34. QH Anderson on November 10, 2021 at 10:07 am

That is a lot of plastic bags used. Why not re-use shopping bags, cereal bags to reduce the waste?

  35. Yas-sine on November 10, 2021 at 10:08 am

Will it works if I used a Pringles can ?

  38. Al S on November 10, 2021 at 10:12 am

How do you harvest the soil out from the compost bin?

  39. Sara R on November 10, 2021 at 10:17 am

Great idea. But ziplock bags are a big No-No. There are plenty of green alternatives.

  40. Rocio Okeke on November 10, 2021 at 10:18 am

    Thanks

  41. m0ther0ne on November 10, 2021 at 10:20 am

Lovely idea, but you’d need quite a lot of boxes this size to make enough compost for the garden. The air and water is for the microbes – that turns all your waste to compost – so the don’t die.

  42. andrea shetterly on November 10, 2021 at 10:22 am

I just bought my bin this week. I can’t wait to try. Anyone know of a good place with a list of compostable items. I heard certain things shouldn’t be put in there like limes/lemons.
