How To Get A Job In The Hunting Industry

How To Get A Job In The Hunting Industry – it is by far the subject of the most frequent question I get on Twitter or when I’m speaking at live events. So much so that I felt that I could answer your questions all at once by doing a video segment about it.

This is not one of our produced segments. In fact, this video is raw and unedited and straight into the camera. We were filming segments for our turkey series Spring Chronicles with Sportsman Channel and took a few minutes to address why people look for careers in the hunting industry.

Finding a career in the hunting industry is not any more difficult than finding a career anywhere else. Locating a job in the hunting industry is not hard, it’s about understanding what a job in the hunting industry looks like because it is not just about being on TV. In fact it’s far from it.

It comes down to your motive. When it comes to how to get into the hunting industry, too many people think that it’s all about getting to hunt a lot, and that’s honestly just naive. There’s much more to it.

This is the story of how Jason Cruise, host of Spring Chronicles with Sportsman Channel and the producer of Mossberg’s Rugged American Hunter, created a path to finding a niche within the hunting industry.

This video covers a few simple insights that can help you think through how to get into the hunting industry.

Great video Jason. I was on the Primos prostaff for 17+ years and consider Will, Jimmy, Brad and many others at Primos great friends and it’s fantastic company. My favorite part of being on the prostaff was doing turkey/deer seminars and working stores and shows, and I often got the same question. I got out of it because of work and family responsibilities which didn’t allow me to participate as much as I wanted. The choice between your family and a hunting show is an easy one, your family always comes first. The idea that being a prostaffer, or even just being in the hunting industry in any capacity, is somehow a way to make it big or make a full time wage is truly a misconception for most. For me it was about having fun and meeting people, and about finding another way to enjoy hunting and share what I learned. It was just plain fun. I’m getting older now, kids are grown up so I’m thinking maybe starting a YouTube channel just for fun; we’ll see. Keep up the great work, I really enjoy your videos and if you see our mutual friend Will tell him I said hello. -Eric Baker
