HOW TO HUNT: Deer hunting 101 – WHITETAIL DEER HUNTING Tips For Beginners

This video will show you how to hunt and is a deer hunting 101 tutorial. Whitetail deer hunting for beginners can be very difficult. Hopefully this video will show you the first step to become a hunter. I want to give you all the steps of becoming a hunter and maybe use this as a guide to help you. I talk about the 4 phases of hunting: the early season, the pre rut, the rut, and the post rut. I use OnXHunt to get around the woods and mark my tree stand locations along with my trail cams. You can use these tips to learn how to hunt deer with a bow, or how to hunt deer with a gun. These deer hunting strategies can really help once they are applied.

I’m 57. Been fishing since 4. Been hunting since 16. Online classifieds are a great place to pick up fishing gear. You can get stuff for 10% of the cost of new. Before you do that though, check out what the local fisherman are using ( if you don’t know ). Most are happy to talk to strangers about “ their” sport.
Hunting is a bit of a different story. Bags, boot, clothes you can get from classifieds but buying firearms online is a bit harder.
Still , if you look for used you can save money. Ducks and deer fall just as dead with a gun made in 1960 as they do with a gun made today.
Many of the older guns actually are better. Just stay away from old shotguns that are not compatible with today’s steel (non-lead) shot if your going for waterfowl.
With firearms it pays to do some online research to understand what you need relative to what you think you want.

I’ve been hunting for 4 or 5 years now for turkey, waterfowl, rabbits, etc. and deer hunting is a huge thing in Kentucky and in my family but I never got into it untill recently I’ve grown an interest and am trying to get a decent idea before going with some family members

You might want to make the videos louder. It’s hard to hear on mobile.

I want to thank you for your service and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I’ve always loved the outdoors and have done some coyote hunting but I really really want to get into big game. My grandfather was a deer/elk Hunter but my dad did not teach or pass this skill and wisdom down to me. My point is I’m eager to learn and for 2021 I’m going to make it a part of my life. Starting January I’m going javelina hunting with my friend and will put in for tags.

This was so informative!! Thank you so much. I am in VA and I’m looking to find some people to go on my first hunt. I have a few questions if you don’t mind me asking more.

I do have one question. How do you make more friends in the hunting community? I’m going to hunt deer for first time and I don’t own any land and I don’t currently know anyone with lots of land I could go on. I will probably go to public land that is not that far from me but in the future I would like to make some friends (to have more friends of course) but also to maybe find some private land to go on.

Hey great content trying to get into hunting and when you mentioned getting the tags for the animal to also get the pamphlet was wondering where one would go for both of them

  20. Danyellow on June 27, 2021 at 8:29 pm

I will be given the opportunity to go hunting for the first time with a man I am dating – I don’t know the first thing about it and don’t want to mess it up – I kinda like him:) We are in Alabama and it does get cold at night- not sure what time of day I’ll be going and don’t know what to purchase to wear! Definitely a newbie – any advice? I don’t want to be a thorn in his side or hindrance so I’d like to learn as much as I can before I go

In all the videos and stuff I’ve watched or read on deer hunting, nobody has ever mentioned what deer are doing at different times of day. You just cleared that up for me. Thanks, man! Good stuff

Hey Mark. Great video. Im new also and wanting to learn more to get out and land a buck or doe. With scouting what things am I supposed to look for? I also have on x maps. As I’m scouting, do I mark that on the on x? I got a 30-06 rifle and I believe I got it scoped in as best as I could. I got a ground blind as well. With being in that does it matter which way im facing? Is there something I can use to hold my rifle up steady so its not soo movable while I’m aiming and miss..?? Thanks

3 questions? Is hunting alone ok or do you have to find someone? Are there groups that teach that you can join? Can you make a video on what you do once you’ve shot the deer?
