On test: Ridgeline Clothing

Will O’Meara and Jason Doyle go on a two-day backpack hunt in the Wicklow Mountains in winter weather conditions. They are after sika as part of Will and Jason’s cull plan for deer in the area. Why put themselves through it? Ridgeline Clothing wants the guys to crawl in its clothing through filthy bog conditions to see if it’s good. Is it, as it claims #kiwitough ?

Why are you pushing a New Zealand brand manufactured in China.
Start showing some loyalty to UK manufacturers.
Ridgeline is mediocre quality hunting equipment and overpriced.
If you want NZ made products, buy Swazi,at least they still manufacture in country !!!

Really enjoyed this video, Ive always stalked solo but would like to try camping out as part of the hunt, I don’t have any mates who stalk or are fit enough to do this with me but would really like to try it.

    Fantastic video, really interesting stuff!

I’m a new shooter (shotgun only) and I was wondering how you can get into this? What is the best way to get into deer stalking without having friends/contacts that stalk deer?

It’s mediocre gear at best. The fleece is ok. The raingear is not comparable to Swazi or Stoney Creek. Your much better off with decent quality tramping / hiking gear like macpac.

I have a monsoon, it’s brilliant. Have had it for a few years. The trousers are not so good. Got wet very quickly round the crotch and inside leg. That was within a couple of days of having them. The new gear looks good. Good test boys.
