Secret Creatures: African Wild Cat

Secret Creatures: African Wild Cat

Six thousand years ago Egyptians domesticated the African Wild Cat to control mice and rats raiding granaries. From these tamed animals, the domestic cat was bred. Although it is an agile tree climber, this cat spends most of its time on the ground.

Thats just a cat lol. They havent really been changed much at all in the way grey wolves have. It even has the Tabby coating with the upside down "W" on the forehead and horizontal stripes on the neck.

One of these showed up in our yard over 20 years ago and we fed her because someone just moved away and left her. She was spayed but was pretty aggressive toward all other animals. We tried to keep her in but she would reach out and scratch you when you weren’t looking and no way could you pick her up. She attacked all other cats and would wander for miles until finally a few years ago she wanted to come in. It was like she knew she couldn’t be top cat anymore and was retired. She looks just like the pure bred ones with the markings and the very long legs. We did have a safe space in the garage for her with a small hole she could come and go. She actually adopted 2 feral kittens that we had to trap and neuter and she still thinks they are her babies.

Why don’t you do one on the highland tiger (Scottish wildcat) as it’s the rarest member of the cat family and it needs more people to know about it’s existence so it doesn’t go extinct

Domestic cat is not domesticated from african wild cat. They were bred from near-eastern wild cat.

And cat in this video is not pure wild cat. It is mixed with domestic cat.

The wild cat is on the verge of extinction. If its prey is not banned, it will disappear. To save nature, it is necessary to stop its hunting.
