If you lay the gardening fabric down over the grass before adding soil.. You’d save a ton of work.

Great video! Just started our garden here in Virginia…a potager…combination of veggies, herbs, flowers. I’m trying to plant also a plant that originates from a country that I’ve travelled to in the past that I can get here in the US …for example—I’ve traveled to South Korea in the past and so I just planted a Camellia Sinensis that originates from Korea that I ordered from North Carolina—going to make my own tea! Looking forward to seeing more of your gardening videos!

I’m stuck at home in a small coastal, and we just started slowly reopening. Farming/gardening is a huge part of the economy here, and I just started planting. Great vid!

I’m always amazed by areas that do not have to surround their gardens with chicken fencing to keep the rabbits out. There is no way my garden could grow if I didn’t fence it in to protect it!

  15. Keren Elizondo on July 29, 2021 at 9:02 pm

Hi, is the treated wood used for the raised bed safe for plants especially vegetables, any chance of contamination from the chemicals used to treat the wood?

Successful Gardening and dog ownership seem like a good preliminary responsibility tests before having a kid because it teaches you many applicable lessons.

Love this as much as your travel content! Living in a townhome on the East Coast doesn’t give us as much space or quite as long of a growing season, but we’re doing square foot gardening, container planting, and we’ve got a great little English-Style butterfly garden in what passes for our "yard". Keep it up Alex and Carrie!

  31. Summer Incairns on July 29, 2021 at 9:27 pm

  37. Egome on July 29, 2021 at 9:31 pm

The chemicals in that pressure treated wood will get into the soil and eventually into the root system of your plants. It is longer lasting but you should consider replacing it with cedar or something untreated

  38. Don't Trade Years on July 29, 2021 at 9:34 pm

You should never use pressure treated stained wood for food garden beds. I wouldn’t use miracle grow soil either. There are so many organic soils out there.

  39. Lannie Armstrong on July 29, 2021 at 9:35 pm

I love how you explained gardening in words.

  40. Bajlandia on July 29, 2021 at 9:37 pm

The garden near the house is a good idea and the vegetables and fruits from it is a great thing, besides a work in the garden is a fine and healthy activity. I love your garden guys !
