9 mistakes I have made with my hunting dogs

Hunting challenges vid here. https://youtu.be/XJE-Nl4g0u4
As embarrassing as it is I feel it is important to share some of my own stuff ups with my own hunting dogs. I hope some of my own mistakes help you dog owners not come undone as I have in the past. I have some regrets and could have done better by my dogs. Dogs are a mans best friend but sometimes I wonder if man is really a dog’s best friend. Clay

E-collars are a great brand…level 1-6 are great for corrections but it won’t actually feel a shock or burn a dog….unless incredibly misused.

Hi! I am looking into getting a spaniel and my family and I aren’t hunting people but we can take the dog out for daily long walks and we will have a outdoor dog kennel for it. What do you think about having a hunting dog inside ?

Great video – here the Spring is about to show up 😉 Just a quick one about #2. My 10 months old GWP girl has an issue with our hens/geese. SportDog collar does not do the job. How can I teach her not to hunt and kill them (she has not done it so far only because I was quick). She is great with other animals (except for cats, but that is in the genes I guess).

I keep hearing guys say it’s bad to bond with your dog. It makes them not range to go find the hog. Is this true?

  22. Hewitt Koia on July 31, 2021 at 9:32 pm

  24. MICK Korhecz on July 31, 2021 at 9:34 pm

Interesting what you said about raising siblings together, i had two staggy cross brothers in the eigties which were the best team i ever had and we regularly hunted with their parents as well. The only thing we did do was take one out alone when he
was three month old to hang around with the older dogs and watch.

Hi Clay. I almost lost a dog to hypothermia working in cold weather. I was carrying him back to where I was staying and he had a fit in my arms. Went rigid like a plank of wood then floppy as anything. Scared me to death but he’s still here.

Very interesting. Love your videos. Just an idea if your short on material . I loved your land cruiser video. We have these wimpy American soft ride SUV s . Not to many cruisers here. How about "Why are cruisers the best " and then demonstrate.

  35. kyle Griffiths on July 31, 2021 at 9:52 pm

Gday clay, in need of help with 2 pups of mine. I fully blame myself for how they are. I have called them and told them off they come to me but are frightened, I also got two pups at the same time these are also my first two pups. I live in bushland and they hunt as soon as I let them out for a run and won’t come. Any ideas to remedy these ?

  36. Tom Scaddz on July 31, 2021 at 9:52 pm

very interesting to a guy from uk not got dogs but love em

  39. Wendy Rowland on July 31, 2021 at 9:57 pm

All excellent advice, especially scolding a returning dog. Your winter, thankfully our summer. Shock collars are banned in Wales, probably because of the f-wits who abuse their dogs with them. I was advised against rehoming 2 dumped pups as I was told they would not bond with our older dog. Good advice!

  40. Benjamin Buor on July 31, 2021 at 9:59 pm

I’d love to hear more about your opinion on training with e collars? I want to properly train my hunting dog but I don’t want to use negative punishments on the dog as pussy as it sounds lol does that vibration usually work or is there no way around shocking them sometimes?

  41. Heather Osborn on July 31, 2021 at 9:59 pm
