Ep. 170 | Steve Rinella’s Near Death Experiences

Ep. 170 | Steve Rinella’s Near Death Experiences

Steve Rinella – Writer, author, host of MeatEater TV, expert outdoorsman, true conservationist, talented story teller and tons of other complementary traits, sits down with Jimmy and Mark to share some of his “highlight-reel” near-death experiences incurred along the way of this crazy thing we call life. From charging a grizzly (not the other way around) and icy water to icy roads, with a fair bit of humor (you can always laugh about it later if you live to tell the tale) and a whole lot more, this was a fun one you won’t want to miss! We also dive into Steve’s new book, “The MeatEater Guide to Wilderness Skills and Survival” – a must read for any seasoned or budding outdoorsman. This comprehensive book, packed with incredibly useful information gained through first-hand experience and lessons learned the hard way, is designed to get you into the wilderness safely and effectively. Death by selfie, moss myths, mountain lions, food, water, shelter, OCD packing and unpacking, and tons of other great topics – this book might just save your life.

  7. Ty Lanway on September 13, 2021 at 10:44 pm

Steve Rinella is amazing and a genius and Vortex nation idiots step on every statement….this is not good despite having the no. 1 best hunter entertainer, game chef, podcaster and so much more….I am sure he is more skeptical about going on a some trashcast like this. Maybe Vortex Nation is a hater group of a confused whirlwind. I am going to even rank Steve down alot for sitting with these vortex trash

45:15 you guys might be interested in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js0haocH4-o 21 feet is the general rule for a person with a knife to be able to close the distance faster than you can draw and get shots off. Did a quick google and found the fastest man is around 23mph, and grizzlies are about 34mph. Some basic math puts it at about 35feet for a grizzly to close the distance faster than you can draw

I was attacked by a lion and I’m 6’3". But I was running down a heavily used game trail after dark in MT. When the lion figured out what I was, it took off. I thought a tree was falling on me. I’ve also been stalked by a couple while bow hunting. It’s not common, but can happen.

  13. MileHighMULLET on September 13, 2021 at 10:53 pm

In Colorado I have been stalked by mountain lions on 3 different occasions while fishing . So no yeah I’ll continue to worry about mountain lions as a threat

When you have a guest shut the hell up and let him speak. Audience wants to hear their story.

  16. Bob Ogg on September 13, 2021 at 10:59 pm

Part of your pre-trip conversation is to ask your buddy, "How would you like to be seasoned?"

  17. Carl Schram on September 13, 2021 at 11:01 pm

I was on board until these dorks censored the word shit.

  18. erik hallingstad on September 13, 2021 at 11:02 pm

Just be quiet and let Rinella talk.

  19. Lucius Sulla on September 13, 2021 at 11:02 pm

Bear mace was very popular where I grew up with the delinquent types, have been sprayed with it on multiple occasions and can confirm it is as unpleasant as it sounds.

  20. Dave YouTube on September 13, 2021 at 11:02 pm

I wanted to hear the story where steve and a few other hunters were eating lunch when a grizzly charged them and someone ended up on its back riding it

  21. theNadeFace on September 13, 2021 at 11:03 pm

We can’t eat Mark. His beard looks too good.

  22. Dave Perkins on September 13, 2021 at 11:03 pm

Want to prove the evolutionary revulsion that species have developed to snakes? You know your indoor kitty who’s never been out in the woods? Sneak a cucumber behind the kitty and watch its "I’m outta here" reaction.

  23. Fred Carter on September 13, 2021 at 11:04 pm

There was a book about a guy that went to Alaska to find himself and ended up Dying from eating a plant I can’t remember what the name of the book is

  24. Jeff Bailey on September 13, 2021 at 11:04 pm

Meat eaters is definitely a well done show but this interview was painful to listen to. I don’t know the background of the guys doing the interview but they really should take some courses on how to conduct an interview that’s not only informative, but one that flows well.

  25. justin81011776 on September 13, 2021 at 11:05 pm

  29. David Regan on September 13, 2021 at 11:11 pm

I have heard that the BIG Grizzlies kill a lot of young bears. I would think that tags for them would be cheap, but I doubt it!

I found a dollar bill while Steelhead fishing with a couple of friends. I went to pick it up only to see a pile of shit by it, so I left it there. Later one of my friends found it, and cleaned it. If it were a bigger bill I would of grabbed it! I did find a $50 dollar bill out camping though!

Take a video about this , at least something in your life will do
global satanic elite it consists of around 10,000 people , from well-known Merkel , Sarkozy, bill gates , Zuckerberg , Sergey Bryl and Larry page , the Bush family, the Clintons , Rockefellers , Rothschild, Baruch,Leiba, Morgan, Carnegie , almost all Royal and Imperial families from around the world and many other names .They are behind the world wars, they created and spread the coronavirus, the main goal is to ensure the arrival of the Antichrist and prevent the second coming of Jesus and the last judgment , such conditions are allowed by God, because before destroying Lucifer (iblis),because he disobeyed God and did not worship Adam , he asked not to kill him, to leave him alive, and for this he will experience the creation of God – man in particular and humanity in general, Lucifer(iblis) . For mankind there are 3 options for the outcome of the first coming of Antichrist and the fall spirit that it has not been rewarded with the 2nd coming of Jesus and then judgment will not, and will all be erased in the dust , except for the approximate 190.000 people who helped the devil to defeat the mankind and the Second variant of the Human spirit on a global scale will be such strong that will not work with them to bring the Antichrist , and will have 2 coming of Jesus and then there will be judgment . Well, the last option they will achieve the coming of the Antichrist , but humanity in general will fight for itself and God will let down Jesus and we will win and there will be a last judgment .They are fighting for eternal life for themselves, and for us they want to leave the option that we will all be wiped out and not even bother with the last judgment . The outcome depends on each of you , and your life after death .This is the information you need to know why Satanic is actually doing all this .And our task is to stop them . And let me remind you that the world is developed by industrialists , scientists , farmers , teachers, well, no matter how satanists, they have always slowed down industrial progress

When I rolled my explorer I was ejected out the back window. The truck was totally crushed though. And I would have been killed if I had my seat belt on. I usually wear one but that day I got lucky.
