I live in a house built in the 50’s. It is haunted and the spook and I do not bother each other. My son has seen it and I have video of it. Apparently it is an older woman that died in the house.

  9. Tat2dGothic on August 17, 2021 at 9:51 pm

From the comments its seem I’m the only one who didn’t like the Netflix series. I thought that it was boring and I kept wanting it to get better but after 4 episodes I gave up on it. Now, The Haunting was an awesome movie no matter what people say.

  10. Sammy W on August 17, 2021 at 9:52 pm

I really liked the film based on the book with Liam neeson and Owen Wilson and Catherine zeta jones. I have wanted to watch the Netflix series but was unsure because I’d heard it was really different…. But it sounds like it’s still worth a watch.

I read the book beginning to end in 6.5 hours non stop. It’s one of my favorite books. It’s f-ing amazing and way better than anything that is based off the story.

    10/10 would smash

  17. Always Right on August 17, 2021 at 9:59 pm

Did everyone forget about the MOVIE that was made? Looks like no one here remembers!

  18. Maestro on August 17, 2021 at 9:59 pm

The “true story” is that it’s a remake of a 1970’s classic. I guess the college graduates in Hollywood studios can’t come up with an original idea if their lives depended on it.

  19. Animesh Mishra on August 17, 2021 at 10:00 pm

My most favourite series of all time :-
    Haunting of Hill House
    Haunting of Bly Manor
    Game of Thrones

My cousin committed suicide in the basement, and my great grandfather died in one of the upstairs bedrooms in my grandparents house. But none of us sense anything or think the house is haunted.

  21. Uncle Bob folds more planes on August 17, 2021 at 10:07 pm

I’m disapointed that you did not mention any of the previous movies based on this book. The ’63 version with Julie Harris, in my opinion is one of the best haunted house movies ever made, with no blood and gore needed to get a good scare. The last half of this video seemed to me to be nothing more than an ad for the Netflix series.

  22. gusmonster59 on August 17, 2021 at 10:11 pm

The series is well done, though not really an adaption of the book. Another good movie based this book is The Haunting (1963 version). But all in all, read some Shirley Jackson. We have Always Lived in The Castle, The Lottery – you won’t regret it.

  24. ANYTHING INTERESTING Los Angeles on August 17, 2021 at 10:12 pm

    Leviticus 19 : 31
Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

Demons are fallen angels, angels who rebelled against God. Demons are evil, deceptive, and destructive. According to 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, demons masquerade as “angels of light” and as “servants of righteousness.” Appearing as a “ghost” and impersonating a deceased human being definitely seem to be within the power and abilities that demons possess.
The closest biblical example of a “haunting” is found in Mark 5:1-20. A legion of demons possessed a man and used the man to haunt a graveyard. There were no ghosts involved. It was a case of a normal person being controlled by demons to terrorize the people of that area. Demons only seek to “kill, steal, and destroy” (John 10:10). They will do anything within their power to deceive people, to lead people away from God. This is very likely the explanation of “ghostly” activity today. Whether it is called a ghost, a ghoul, or a poltergeist, if there is genuine evil spiritual activity occurring, it is the work of demons.

Research the bock of Enoch , Noahs grandfather .. It’ll explain more about the watchers of satanail ..the fallen angels ..

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
    John 14:6 (NKJV)

    Salvation:-

Confess and repent of all your sins in prayer
Forgive those who have harmed you (this will free you from anger) as Jesus forgave you
Believe Jesus died to blot out your sins and proclaim He is your Lord and Saviour
Believe He rose again 3 days later in the flesh by God’s hand
Be baptised fully immersed in water and be baptised in the Holy Spirit (if possible)
    Repent daily
By grace you are saved through Faith (belief)
    Live pure and stop sinning
    Follow the spiritual laws:
Love you neighbour as yourself and love God with all your heart, soul and mind.
Develop a relationship with God to hear His voice.
    Be obedient.
    Do fruitful charitable deeds.

  40. Will Frank on August 17, 2021 at 10:38 pm

"No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone."
    — The opening paragraph of "The Haunting of Hill House," by Shirley Jackson.

    Nell deserves better 🙁

  42. Androj Bewie lePlow on August 17, 2021 at 10:39 pm

Unpopular opinion: the netflix series didn’t do Jackson’s novel justice. I know it was just a riff off of it but in an attempt to make the characters relevant it distracted from the plot and the core sense of unease that Jackson’s novel deftly portrayed. Instead of showing the mysteries of the house through the eyes of a unique female protagonist and the psychological horrors therin, the series was centered around the self absorbed family members and their supposedly tragic lives, I get what it was trying to do but I didn’t care that the brother was a junkie and sister was an alcoholic, their flaws didn’t give them depth or make them more sympathetic, they were just pathos bait. There were some scary parts but overall forgettable

  43. SGTJohnny Wallsmith on August 17, 2021 at 10:39 pm

I don’t think they’re ghosts that haunt us. I think they’re aliens that make themselves invisible to us and mess with us. Also, I think the same about kids imaginary friends.

  44. Shadow Warrior on August 17, 2021 at 10:40 pm

You’re narrating too fast. Even if you get distracted for a moment you miss some lines even with subtitles.
